We may accept some college and undergraduate student Blog pieces if you are studying in a relevant field. If you are studying at Post-Graduate level e.g. PhD/Masters please apply if you would like to.
Specialists in inner peace or peace related travel destinations are also welcome to apply to contribute a piece for the Blog and we encourage you to consider applying. E.g. perhaps you are a travel blogger and have visited a lot of important Peace related sites, or you might be a Buddhist nun, monk or teacher guiding others to improve their inner peace and general wellbeing.
We also accept people with what we call 'lived experience' of war and conflicts. If you have a lived experience that you want to turn into Blog post and would like to apply please contact us.
*Please note we cannot and will not approve any Blog posts that promote racial or cultural hatred, that pit Nations against each other or promote violence (including war) as a solution to societal problems. We are fundamentally anti-war and pacifist as a society.
Firstly please be aware contributions to the Blog are voluntary, no one (including the founder) is getting paid to write these Blog posts. We don't advertise on the website or monetise the Blog posts, we do not accept advertising on the website. The point of the Blog is charitable and to encourage peace during these very difficult times. You don't have to be in the UK to contribute to the Peace Blog, it is both a domestic and international blog for the domestic (UK) community and the international community. However please write in English, we don't have the capacity currently to write in other languages (though we hope to be able to achieve writing in other languages in the future as this space develops over time - we are quite new currently).
Please send an email to info@internationalpeacesociety.org.uk with your Blog post (and any photo/s you want on the blog where the copyright is owned by you, or you have purchased the rights to use the photo/s) attached. Please note we cannot post pictures that infringe copyright law. If you send us a picture/s to post you must have permission to use that photo/s. Please include a short "about the author" section. Your Blog post will be reviewed and you will be advised either way if it will be put onto the website or not, in some instances we may ask you to make revisions before approval. If your Blog post is not accepted you will be provided with feedback as to why. Blog posts promoting war and violence, racial or cultural hatred, pitting Nations against each other will definitely not be accepted and posts making claims (e.g. in relation to Peacebuilding) that are not backed by fact/evidence will also not be accepted.
In the case where you are a professional wanting to contribute to the Blog please provide evidence of your qualifications e.g. Certificate, Diploma, Bachelors Degree, Graduate Degree etc. and at least one academic or work reference's contact details (phone number, email, workplace or academic institution and position e.g. manager or academic supervisor) to verify you hold these qualifications and/or work experience. We have a responsibility to ensure the information on the Blog is accurate and factual and any claims made by professionals on the Blog will also need to be able to be verified by scientific fact/evidence. When making any claims please provide a reference list with your evidence supporting these claims.
Please see our Privacy Policy for information about how the IPS handles your personal information. We adhere to the GDPR for Europe.
For Blog pieces related to peace travel destinations or lived experience you don't need to have qualifications or a reference. But if you are submitting a peace travel or lived experience Blog piece you cannot make claims that are not based on evidence. These types of Blog pieces are more for personal experiences, personal reflections, feelings and thoughts relating to peace locations or lived experiences of war. We cannot post statements which are not based on fact/evidence, we have a responsibility to ensure the information on the Blog is accurate and factual. But please do apply if you want to express your personal lived experience. E.g. maybe you visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and want to write about how this made you feel or thoughts it brought up or reflections that you had about peace and war afterwards. If you make any statements which pertain to being factual you must provide the evidence/references for your conclusions for us to verify the information. We would like to become a registered charity one day and charities have the obligation of ensuring their information and any claims made is accurate, factual and evidence based. We are not currently a charity, we do not accept donations and are not hiring. We are at the moment solely an Online Peace Blog and Meetup Group in Manchester, UK.
Please consider applying if you think you're the right person to apply, we do want our domestic and international community to be involved and your voices do matter. Ultimately peace will not happen from any one person or group, peace is a community effort, including the international community.
We are inclusive and welcome applications from people with disabilities, impairments, the LGBTIQ community, all genders and orientations and people from minority ethnic backgrounds. If you cannot read, write or speak in English then please consider having your work translated by a professional translator before submitting it to us.
