At the International Society for the Promotion of Permanent & Universal Peace Blog, we strive to foster understanding and harmony between nations. Our initiatives are geared towards creating a world where dialogue prevails over conflict. We also write about many different peace related topics, including peace related travel destinations and inner peace. The nickname for our Society is the International Peace Society and the acronym is the IPS.

    Our Vision

History of the original Peace Society

    Our Vision

    We want peace.

At The International Society for the Promotion of Permanent & Universal Peace Blog, we envision a world where every person has access to the resources they need to live a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life. We believe peace follows when the wellbeing of humanity and nature is given the highest of priorities. We strive to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Currently we are solely an Online Peace Blog and a Meetup Group in Manchester, United Kingdom. We would like to become a registered charity in the future. Currently however we are an Online Peace Blog and Meetup Group Only. Our office address is a Virtual Office, our Postal Address is listed at the bottom of this website page.

At the moment the only language we are operating in is English, however as this space develops over time we would like to be able to include other languages as part of our online presence. Please keep in mind this modern contemporary version of the International Peace Society is relatively new.

    Our Values

History of the original Peace Society

    Our Vision

Our Society is built on a foundation of compassion, integrity, inclusivity and accountability. We are fundamentally opposed to war (anti-war) and pacifist, we believe violence does not solve deeper societal problems which contribute to conflicts. Violence is not the answer. We are also eco-conscious and acknowledge there are climate and nature emergencies currently ongoing. We believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect. We are a non-denominational Society welcoming people of all genders, all orientations, all faiths, or no faith (including atheists and agnostics) and people from all nationalities and backgrounds. We aim for this to be a safe space.

We do however ask that visitors to the Peace Blog and members of the Manchester International Peace Society Meetup Group treat each other with respect. Any violent, aggressive, threatening, abusive (including emotional abuse and coercive control), criminal or dangerous behaviour can be blocked, removed and reported to the relevant authorities and online platform. Scammers can be reported also.

The Community Guidelines list prohibited content and behaviours. Action taken could involve content removal, warnings and account suspensions blocking a user/s from the site. In the case of illegal activity this will be reported to the relevant authorities which could include local or international police (e.g. INTERPOL), the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Action Fraud & Internet Watch Foundation (IWF).

Visitors to the online Peace Blog or Meetup Members that need to make a report can discreetly make a report via our "Make a Report" page which can be found on the header or footer of this homepage.

History of the original Peace Society

History of the original Peace Society

History of the original Peace Society

The International Society for the Promotion of Permanent & Universal Peace Blog is a contemporary 21st Century successor version of the original Society for the Promotion of Permanent and Universal Peace (some of the Peace Society's other names throughout history: The Peace Society, The International Peace Society and The London Peace Society).

The creation of this online Peace Blog was inspired by the original Peace Society which was extremely active and influential in peace efforts throughout the 19th Century but sadly the original Peace Society became defunct in the 20th Century.

The founder of this contemporary 21st Century version of the Society is Cindy Baxter who is a descendant of the English Peace Family Line. Cindy discovered information about the original Peace Society when she was researching her own ancestry.

The original Peace Society existed during very different times to our modern contemporary world here in the 21st Century. Women were not allowed to join initially and were not allowed full membership or to serve on the executive committee of the original Peace Society.

The current founder of the contemporary 21st Century version of the Peace Society Cindy Baxter - is a woman.

*Though the original Peace Society primarily comprised of Quaker/Christian members, this contemporary Peace Society is non-denominational and open to all faiths or no faith (atheists, agnostics etc.).

Anyone with a desire to see more peace in the world is welcome.
